Back in my day we didn't have to worry about cell phones making noise in the theater.

The movie had no sound and only a piano player and no one brought in a phone.

And they say we are making progress as time marches on :bowrofl: :bsflag:

PS
Quest phone guy gave me shit when he found duct tape holding wires together inside my side of the outside box. Smart fucker, didn't believe me when I tried to blame it on my son...

Mt Spokane High School actually bought one and got it up and running, to keep kids from using their phones.
I think it was a bunch of complaints to the cell carriers from parents which ultimately discovered it.
Now I see several state DOC's want to use them.

Mt. Spokane is known for having a bunch of spoiled little brats who's mommies and daddies are slightly better than "well off"! So needless to say, Susie or Junior thinks they can talk on their phone whenever and wherever they want no matter what the rules are and then when they lose their phone (Teach takes it)...then Mommie and Daddie come to the rescue because Junior and Susie should be allowed to do whatever they want because they are spoiled!!.........................:bsflag:

Where my kids go to school in the West Plains (oldest one has graduated), if they got caught using their phone then they lose it till the parent comes to retrieve it and since there isn't as much juice out there, the district has alittle more clout! I always just sent txt messages to my kids those times when I needed to talk to them before they were done for the day telling them to call me "when you are out of class". I always reminded them to follow the rules and either turn off the phone or make sure it was set to vibrate only! They were/are good about that!

I graduated HS back in 2004 (Yes, I am young ha). District policy was that each school could make up their own rules regarding cell phones. My HS policy it was up to the teacher. 99% of the teachers had a policy of something along the lines of "you can't use it while we are learning, but if you are done with your work you can text quietly or go out and the hall to make a call if you really really need to." I think that's a decent policy.

As for that jammer in the Spokane schools; I remember one school down in California had two microcell CDMA and GSM units on site that most cell phones would affliate to but the school set a schedule for it to allow outgoing non-emergency calls.

When I graduated in 2007, I bet district personnel would have paid a lot of money to get jammer devices...then again I would have paid $30 so I could have peace and quiet in class while testing and then turned it off when I wanted to text in the back row...

It wouldn't surprise me if the superintendent at the time (an Grade A asshole who retired the same year I graduated) wanted a jammer for not our school but the HS cross town but I think the CTO and the legal team would probably put their foot down at such a device.
