Is anyone using the GRE PSR-400 or Radio Shack PRO-163 ??? They are both 1,000 channels 10 banks and appear to cover the same bands including: Commerical Air and Military AIR Bands, 225 to 400 Mhz, and 700 Mhz band. Analog only but include Motorola, GE and Johnson Trunking. Both have PL and DCS tones. These units look like a mobile version of the PRO-95 portable. Both sell for around $ 225. Anyone using these units -- are they OK or crap ???

Doesn't make sense to have an analog-only radio that also covers 700, does it?

Radio Shack does list a "Digital" upgrade for the PRO-163. Both seem to be the mobile version of a PRO-95 or PRO-97 handheld unit. Both include the Military Air Band and new 380 to 400 Mhz band. Both models are "firmware" upgrade-able. And both units have Tone Decode of standard PL and DCS codes.

Pro 164 "digital upgrade" evidently that is a typo

It is supposed to fix these problems:

-Fixed: LTR ID code entry bug in ID bank. (Fixed from version G1.01)

-Fixed: EDACS ID code(AFS Format) entry bug in ID bank. ( Fixed from version G1.01)

-Fixed: Search stops at 147.9950 MHz in the search amateur bands.

-Fixed: S-meter icons appears when start Search in Search mode and Sweeper mode.

I am looking in the 2002 Radio Shack catalog, which I believe was the last catalog
they printed, and the portable scanners in it are the PRO-92, PRO-94, the PRO-89
race scanner and the "new" PRO-93. The base/mobile scanners are the PRO-2052, PRO-2067 and the "new" PRO-2053. I still have all the catalogs going back for about
30 years and find them useful for looking up old equipment. Wish they still printed
a catalog. It is a pain looking up their stuff now online. You have to know exactly
what they call the item or do a lot of searching. Did a "Google" on the PRO-15 &
PRO-17 and nothing comes up in the way of scanners. No offense meant Mike.

I ment the PRO-95 and PRO-97 units. It appears that the Radio Shack PRO-2055, PRO-163 and GRE PSR-300 units are all the same.

Hey Mike,
Radio Shack # 20-525 is a PRO-95 scanner.
That must be what you are thinking of.
Must have been used so much the 9 has worn down to a 1.
Yes we know that one.

I will guess the PRO-17 is the PRO-97.
It was the one that replaced the PRO-95. 8)
