Also, as others have pointed out recently, a quick visit to http://www.interceptradio.com/bbs/search.php and a search on Seafair will reveal lots of past posts that are probably still relevant this year.

Yes, we had a LONG (5+page thread, rare for the board!) discussion on Blue Angel freqs last year. I think we did a pretty good job of flushing them out, I believe. I will be curious to see if anything changed this year. Especially after the accident, if they have changed procedures at all (although I don't think the accident had anything to do with comms).

There are a lot of freqs, but for you newbies, it really boils down to about three most important freqs, and I think cowboymike got them correct above:

237.80 solos
275.35 diamond
284.25 showbox (I think this was the 'common' freq)

The link to our thread last year is here:

I spent the evening programming radios and I think I'm ready. I just need to pick my viewing locations now.

Besides last year's info, I found this blog link listing some of this season's known good freqs. Nothing shocking:

http://mt-milcom.blogspot.com/2007/03/2 ... egins.html

Quote:
The Blue Angels held their season opener at NAF El Centro on 3/10/2007. I went to the show armed with my BC-396T. During the practice show (3/9), the following frequencies were found in use:

139.8125/FM BA ComCart
142.6125/FM BA ComCart
237.80
275.35
284.25
305.50 BA "Bert"
346.50

...I took better notes on show day, and the following were active...
237.80 Solos (out of show box)
346.50 "MO" / Maintenance Officer
275.35 Diamond (out of show box)
284.25 Diamond/Solos in show box

Does anybody have more current information on frequencies that are going to be used by the unlimited hydroplanes? The ones listed are obviously old (Miss Budwiser hasn't raced for awhile). I searched the net, but wasn't able to find anything. If all else fails I will was close call. Thanks for any help you can give.

Where is the best viewing points to see the Angels from? I am armed with my scanner and would love to see/hear them at some point this weekend but don't want to go hang "with the crowds" Also how far will those freqs travel? I drive a route fro work and I am between Redmond and North Bothell/Mill Creek areas all day. Would I be able to recieve any comms on my pro-97 or will the distance be to great ? Thank you....

My fave place is the city park above the west end of the I-90 bridge and I will be there Sat. Since they make such lager turns for some of the setups you can see them from all over seattle and the some of the west - east side.

Best listening is to have three or four radios and have each freq sitting of each of the scanners. In scan mode you miss some of the traffic.

Re: Current information - the above is it. I'm sure there will be a few new changes, but for the most part if there was something new it would have been posted. The Seafair archive hase a lot of rich information.

Small boats tenders/rescue use CB and marine
CG mostly on marine VHF
Almost every marine channel is used by someone in that mile by mile - some offical , some not and as the day progresses some drunk.

( I'll finish in the AM)....

So beyond marine VHF

Media is very busy in their VHF freq's and 450 to 451 and 455 to 456.

Itinerant business is also crazy including vendors, officals and boats. Best way here is if you have a scanner that will search 461.0125 to 469.8975 in 25k steps. Most scanners will revert to the 461.0 to 470.0 repeater freq's. Also scan the 800 non law freqs for the same.

There may also be a WBFM signal in the VHF wireless mike range (like 170 to 220) that will be the direction for of the hydro assn's video recording of the event.

Lastly Re: Freqs for Budwiser. I know that they are no longer in the hydro business, but have you noticed that the old Bud driver has won all the races so far - I'll bet that the new team is using the old freq's.
