We've always know that the King County radio shop (RCS) attracted the best and brightest minds, but yesterday I had the chance to see some of the tech they're working with. Behold, the sort of thing available to current TRS users and future PSERN subscribers:

I still contend that the Saber was the best radio ever made......

tight filters, good rx sensitivity, capable of 8W on VHF, and rugged enough to beat someone up with or fall down a couple flights of steps and still keep working.

Yes, newer rigs have new features, broader spectrum coverage, newer ooohs and aahss.... But if I had to buy radios for a single system and use nothing but, I'd run Sabers (OK, maybe an Astro Saber).
