I can confirm Encryption on TG's 60213, 60214 and 60215. As far as if this is a test or full time ENC on these groups only time will tell. I'll have to break out my software to monitor which radio ID's use these groups. A different site lists these as Spokane County OPS groups.

*Edited to add another TG (60215)

That's good info.
I'm using a 396, it mutes ENC.
Plus my residence is just over a hill/ out of range until I can get the antenna up higher.
It shows the site ID but can't grab enough packets for much else.
I can get WSP Spokane and county's VHF side ok.

Simulcast is killing my reception at home so it looks like I'll have to do most of my scanning from work. I can confirm that Spokane Police Channel 2 (data) is now 60237 and it's encrypted. North and South channels are in the clear as well as Sheriff's 1 and 2. Looks like they made the cutover as all Police units are now on the new system.

I'll have to reposition my antenna, Saturday I picked up blips of SO-2.
It doesn't help having my antenna at 10' agl.

At home I use a 396t and a 996t. The 996 just wont work at all with the p25 LSM. I'll have to invest in a yagi I guess. the 396 works intermittently if I put it in my homes "sweet spot".

At work I'm using a GRE 500 with a RS 800mhz antenna connected to a PC with Pro96com installed. Using a Uniden 250 with digital card for voice.

This morning I'm receiving some county traffic from 852.1875, which I believe is Scoop Mt.

It does sound 'clean', even with one or none 'bars'.

Unfortunately since I work and live within the city and primarily listen to the city, I'm stuck dealing with the simulcast issues. I was thinking of getting one of the Uniden 436 radios but might just have to save up the money for a /\/\ Radio if I can find someone to program it for RX.

I should add I'm located in a sucky place to monitor this- 40 miles NNW of Spokane on the backside of a ridge and in a valley.

Today I'm catching city traffic '60200'.
The county's VHF is now a simplex 'retransmit' (whatever the technical word is) without the long squelch tail that was ever so present.

I was getting some City North 60200 on SCOOP and some City South 60201 on UPPER MICA. I can get the simulcast just fine on my 396t at work so that's what I'm listening to now. At home, close to 5 mile, it's so hit and miss it's not worth listening too. Now if a city north radio was always affiliated with SCOOP I would just use that at home!

I like how the Spokesman article says that some channels for the detectives have "security" on them. From what I've seen the data and a handful of "OPS" channels are all encrypted.

The other nice thing about listening to the Simulcast is access to SCSO channels, city channels, Cheney, etc.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to have a balloon antenna! Coax is plenty strong to hold up an omni-directional antenna.

The best part -- you don't need a ground plane!
