There's a couple of settings in the APX's that can cure that.

I hear them on car to car on analog once in a while. I'm sure at some point they will fix the P25 or kill it. Out of all the local frequencies I listen to they sound the worst. And it sucks I had to take them out of my fire radio.

Aww, it's sooo cute!

Caught some P25 traffic on WSP Car-to-Car 1 earlier last week.

Didn't post it at the time as the communications were of a sensitive nature.

Kelso and Chehalis dispatch frequencies made the digital switch sometime today. I suspect Vancouver did, too, but it's slightly out of my range. Can someone recommend a good P25 "Sound Quality" setting for a BC-796D? I know it should be adjusted while listening, but they're not saying much tonight and I'm tired of sitting in the car waiting for them to transmit.

Thanks for the heads up! Haven't heard any more P25 activity here in the Seattle area lately. Haven't really been listening either.

Vancouver switched a couple days ago, and Jeremy already logged the NAC. Audio quality of Base is quite good, but have had a few issues with the mobiles, including one that had a very delayed echo on day one. Not so much now.

I've been trying to tweak my 396T and 396XT as well as my 996s, but have not yet come up with the best combination. Still getting a burst of static or perhaps a data burst at the beginning of the TX, Tends to cut off unit IDs. Occasionally still getting just the hash on the channel as if not changing it to P25. Need more time to tinker I guess, but transition was quick and not bloody like posts from E. WA suggested.

Every now and then I catch poor P25 from LERN.
I don't know who, considering my location.
The local entity isn't licensed for the freq.

Side note-
NLEC (.475) broadcast over probable VOIP.
I hear the routine testing with the computer generated voice stating locations over the west coast.

Move closer to the source, on a hill, etc. you've probably optimized it as best as possible with the settings. I would probably leave the 396 setting in "all" rather than digital in case they switch back and forth. I used to get Kelso area on a handheld, no more. Chehalis is spotty.

In fact I did leave it "All" as well as modulation "Auto", since as you say, not completely changed over yet. Besides, some channels (LERN, NLEC, DNR-State, and so forth; per their memo, to be left analog. Anyone know abt the various car-to-car channels yet?

There are some threashold settings I'm curious about though (can't recall specifics, but set at 100,200,400, etc) and don't have a clue what would be best there.

Vancouver sounds good once I get over the West Hills on the Astro Spectra...noticing the dispatcher always has a radio ID of 1.
