I wish my spectum analyzer was that compact and light! Ever had to drag an IFR 1200 up seven flights of stairs to the repeater? I get home and my wife calls me a wimp for wining!

WSP has some time. Their not in violation. Don't fret.

You can give them to me. Ill take them off your ha... I mean return them to their rightfull owners.

Funny thing is that there is no set time that various agencies get. Some years, some months, some who knows. Guess anyone or site that wants to figure it out will have to do some research. http://FCC.GOV

I must side with your wife on this one, having spent a number of years with the larger IFR 1500.

I carried an EFJ 5100 for awhile, does that count? Being Washington (mostly), it was all in IFR- not much VFR (what's this "sun" thing? ).

"Although transmissions can be encrypted, Schwent said they will use that feature rarely, only when it's necessary. He wants open communications with media and local law enforcement agencies."

"The State Patrol is on track, though, to meet that Aug. 1 deadline, even after stumbling on a couple of technical bumps at mountaintop relay sites. Schwent said Yakima will roll out the system first, followed by Spokane and then Vancouver."

“It brings us into the 21st century,” Schwent said.
LOL, Not really... It brings them up to the Mid 90's when P25/Astro was rolled out...

To comply with the Federal Communications Commission’s mandate, the State Patrol must shift its wideband analog system to a narrowband system called APCO Project 25.

What they meant to say is-

Quote:
To comply with the Federal Communications Commission’s mandate, the State Patrol must shift its wideband analog system to a narrowband analog system but have also decided to include the p25 digital technology option which by the way is quite old.

The FCC does not mandate emission types.

They are testing it again in Yakima. I'm getting birdies on my analog scanner, and periodically I'll get voice on my HomoPatrol on the digital side.
