Haven't they been talking about a radio like this for over a year and not bringing it to market?
The KG-UV920R has nearly identical specs, came out already, and flopped pretty bad due to poor performance.

Any surprise?

Proof yet again that one "gets what they pay for"...

I first made this post in September 2012. I appreciate all of the responses. I have heard the radio is in the USA and is being tested by a dealer or dealers. I believe it was Atomic Taco who referenced a previous entry in the US market by a Chinese company and apparently the preformance was pretty dismal. Has anyone seen test reports or seen actual reviews of this radio?

I have also read some good reports on this particular importer/dealer. Has anyone here done business with this company-Import Communications?

Many thanks,

Same manufacturer. Although I think they might be releasing a new version. See next.

It's not shipping yet; one person has a preproduction model: http://va3isp.com/

It hasn't made it through yet, if it ever does.

You can't get FCC type acceptance on a user field programmable radio.

You CAN as long as the option is "restricted"

If we knew the Form 731 confirmation number, we could check pending.

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ ... Search.cfm Just enter "t4k"

Ive found some of their other products here.

But in their own docs...

Quote:
FCC ID: T4K5188U1 Attestation statement that the end user can’t tune the transmitter.

The equipment meets the requirements of the FCC Rules, Part 90.203(e) and (g), as applicable.
Programming of this product’s transmit frequencies can be performed ONLY by the manufacturer or by

This is pretty entertaining. Ive never seen one of these that couldn't be programmed in the commercial bands by the user. Apparently modded by the distributor.

I have the KG-UV6D handheld, which has similar type-accepted / locked-out VFO capability. You have to run a one-time routine to unlock the VFO, then it all works as advertised.
