Getting a very loud audible whine on 462.675 Mhz. I cannot tell you how annoying it sounds. It really sucks because it interferes with my scans of the GMRS frequencies. :)

If anyone is looking for a mystery to solve then head over to the Eastgate area in Bellevue. It's very loud here. It just started up in the last 48 hours -- wasn't present over the weekend.

It easily covers 30khz of the spectrum.

Quick note: every so often, the whine stops and gives way to just open static

No it had a pretty clean signal actually. Make no mistake, this was a *strong* signal. I would guess it from a hilltop repeater system. I didn't get a chance to drive around to see how far it went.

However -- as of 11:23pm it suddenly stopped. Either someone fixed their problem or the equipment finally gave up.

2000-2001 models of the Wingard Sensor amplifier antenna's would go into self oscillation and attach themselves to local used frequencies (+harmonics of said freqs) and roll up and down around that freq. If you were within 25 yards and clear line of site to it you could see your radio rssi start to peak...

They would modulate the 60 hz from the RV power supply so if nothing is plugged into the power supply they could produce a clean carrier...

Just a thought...

The static/inteference is back of right now -- 2:10pm. The whine is not present at this time. Full-quieting into the Lake Hills area.

I had a strong full-quieting signal over on 148th and 520 on my 346T. Same thing at my place in DT Bellevue. This is definitely a powerful signal. Who's got some DF gear they want to test out? :chaingun:

I have a nice portable Yagi for 440mhz HAM but the signal is so strong it doesn't really DF well. I'm thinking [the repeater] is up on top of one of our local hills.

I do, but I work all day tomorrow then leave for North Dakota Friday morning, sorry. Unless someone wants to borrow it...?

Good point. If the crappy OEM antenna on my 346T can get a great signal, it's pretty strong.

I have a receiver with a 4 step attenuator.
I'll charge the batt and see what I see tomorrow.
