I wonder, if I hijacked this pumper truck, could I mount my mil-surp discone on the boom and leave it up permanently? My mag-mount is not cutting it, especially for low band, and 150' in height would vastly improve things...

Good call! I remember driving past that years ago, but thought it was in Federal way. Thanks! I'll definitely be stopping by there for some images.

Anything shorter than a true 1/4~ antenna is in minus territory... Ever considered a preamp? Being in the rural areas like that, at least it wouldn't likely overload easily...

I would, but there's a ton of telemetry on UHF, and something giving me wideband noise from 150.900-152.300.

Cheap wireless access points and gas pump control readers would be my first guess...

You could run an antenna splitter and run antennas for each band... I was looking at Stico and Laird but only find antenna's

The third link down has some potential...

http://www.lairdtech.com/Products/Anten ... -Antennas/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanOnt/message/8872

Im usually connecting several repeaters to a single (or two) antenna(s)... :D

The unstuck photos are from Hagerman Pass (In between Leadville and Basalt)

The stuck photos are from Grand Mesa, Colorado.

Better than a buddy, getting paid to do it

We were 30' short in every direction with the winch cable, back or front it didn't matter. We were on the road, but spring had formed from the melt off and there we were.

Having another cat is nice, but we had to wait a few hours...

Here is another woops.. and no I was not driving in either of them

88 degrees and thunderstorms today...I have yet to see lightning, but I've been hearing distant thunder for about an hour now.
