Kind of got a kick out of this. What you see in the photo is an Icom IC-V8000, 2 meter mobile, that has been modified for liquid cooling. The owner, W2DDY, claims that the radio is used 24/7 for echolink, utilizing the high power setting (75 watts).

To me, it sounds like the long way around the block..... but, whatever makes this guy happy. I suppose if you got the radio for a good price, and you had the parts laying around...... why not.

A high band Micor paging transmitter is rated for 350W continuous duty and doesn't need all that hokey cooling stuff. Perhaps the guy was bored and wanted to do things the hard way.
