On Saturday - June 11, 2005 -- 42.80 Mhz will be used to broadcast a FM program to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Major Edwin Armstrong's inventing "FM" radio. Broadcast starts at 12 noon (EDT) ( 9 AM West Coast ). This broadcast will use the same radio channel ( 42.800 Mhz ) and the very same transmitter location -- a 400 foot tower in Alpine, NJ. http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/0 ... d=126&tid=

Will also be broadcast on the internet.

:D Just checked my calender -- and I was there, if only in spirit. Something for all of us to learn. The value of human life. Armstrong belived he had failed and was defeated. His 'inventing' FM radio has been anything but. A day to honor a great radio person. I would have loved to have been there. I still remember the very first FM broadcast station I built. "PURE ENERGY".

Agreed - wish I had been there too. The four hours of commercial free programming just ended, including a radio show chronicling his life, as played by some well known actors. Great stuff.

Thanks for the link Mike. Advertised to be rebroadcast on the web at 1900 EDT on June 14 and June 16.

Howie
