Noticed LEARN is busy tonight. I have it in my NORCOM/Eastside bank on my Pro-97 and was under the impression it was usually used for large incidents or to have several agencies able to communicate on one freq/Tg for a major incident. Tonight I'm hearing what is sounding like car stops in Pierce Co. and a heavy volume at that. Sounds quite routine and all different streets/locations being called out. and Why is it that I almost always only hear Pierce Co. on LEARN?? Thanks..

Usually listen to the 155.37 side of things... Pierce County does seem to use this quite a bit, routinely on weekends for the aforementioned activity plus anything that requires multi-agency coordination... as not everyone in Pierce is up and running on the trunked system...

And in the NorCom/Eastside area LERN and MARS are basically unused anymore except for communicating directly with WSP. PSOPS N1/N2, PSOPS S1/S2, and MA Snocom/Snopac channels are where I hear either PD or Fire (or joint operations) traffic.

I too hear LERN traffic from pierce county rebroadcast onto the LERN talkgroup on the 800 system...

800 Trunk systems are EXCELLENT LERN receivers!
I have heard traffic from as far out as Grays Harbor / Aberdeen area.

One of my fav's from our SE precinct

County Frank 5 to state on LERN

Ellensburg State, go ahead Frank 5

Disregard, King County 2 Frank 5 to Seattle state on LERN.

Guess that's what happens when you use a 4 site high altitude simulcast patched to a talkgroup.

It was a DUI emphasis when I worked down that way.
WSP was the 'radio' for it.
