is it possible to listen to the OPSCAN system on a scanner?

What or who is OPSCAN ? If you are refering to Port Angeles and Clallam County Law, Fire and EMS -- yes, you can monitor all of the action on a scanner. Check out our database for all of the local frequencies. Happy scanning.

yup, that's the system. tried scanning the 120 inputs recently but no luck, rec'd only aircraft.

I believe the 120 inputs are actually geographic coordinates.

You need to find the actual frequency of each agency to scan them.
Could be VHF, UHF or 800 Mhz.

my limited monitoring indicates that when agencies move to an opscan channel, it frees up their usual freq.

Never heard of an OPSCAN channel. What the heck are you talking about ?

OPSCAN is a few things.

Its a backbone cooperation...

Its interoperable channels...

Its a method to connect distant areas together...

OPSCAN A-E are crossband repeated channels much like King Co. MARS. They all share the same frequencies. Just different locations.

All "interoperability" frequencies /channels -- by their own nature, must be "in the clear". That is, listenable by all agencies or departments. (That would include anyone with a scanner). Most such frequencies will be licensed "on a statewide basis" or "regional basis". The FCC license will almost always be held in the name of Washington State, but located at a local police or fire station.

all i can answer is that during a local situation recently, the units were told to move to "Opscan 7" and i no longer heard anything but routine traffic on the agencies frequencies. oh, and fwiw, i am VERY familair with the King County system, OPSCAN is not the same.

453.375 is the UHF side. 154.4525 Narrow Band is the VHF side. They are low level so don't get out very far. Id do the UHF side. You guys are scanner pros! You should know this stuff already! :shock: :D

OPSCAN is not some type of "scanning radio system". 154.4525 R (Not 155.4525) and 453.375 R are "patched" into each other to allow cross band "tactical / car to car communications" between agencies in Clallam and Jefferson counties. You should be abe to hear something.

What is the 151.1375 used for?
