Now that is great news.

And the award for the most over used phrase in a bid award award goes to 'next generation'.

Got plenty of P25 capability here at radio ranch; but am seeking an antidote to encryption.

In addition to effecting my listening habits, this is an incredible wast of money for this 0.75 horse town.

On the brightside, at least they did not go EDACS Pro-voice- so at least we can continue to listen to Scraps.

Good times if you are a Motorola sales rep.

Naw, I'll just move outta the area.

To bad they don't look at using their existing pool of VHF freqs.
The county uses one for west, north, & east, then one just for contract Spokane Valley.
The only dispatches over Spokane City air are '1' calls, and the nightly pursuits.
Fire has a buncha freqs they could add to the pool as well.

I had conversation some time ago with a Deputy Chief from the F.D. I used to volunteer with overthere about this. He indicated then that there had been discussion about a 700mhz/VHF system for them.

One wonders if they couldn't have saved substantial cash by allying with Idaho's IIMARS system...At least the cost of the Zone Controller?

A 3-6 site or whatever buildout from that system, with all it's cross-border coverage into Washington would make more sense, at least to me. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons it wouldn't work....Right?
