Is 4 X 4 Rescue Council using 462.9875 Mhz for vehiclular repeaters?

Callsign is KNDR611 and they are licensed for MObile use on that freq at 2 watts.
I keep hearing CWID on the UHF, with a ctcss tone of 162.2 hz.

Sometimes what I hear on UHF is simultaneous with what's on 47.66 Mhz with a ctcss tone of 123.0 hz.

4x4 SAR is licensed for the UHF and low band stuff but it gets little to no use. 99.875% of all of the 4x4 comms happen on VHF 155.175

How do you tell if somebody's in 4x4 SAR? Their truck is bright and shiney and looks like it's never been off paved roads, but it has an amber lightbar and more antennas than most people have fingers sprouting from it. :twisted:

Seriously, it's not all on 155.175. There's also 145.110 and 153.755...


ESAR, though, still uses its low band freq a little bit in training. A very little bit.

This is true, but the OP had asked about 4x4 comms. Pretty boring chit chat on the 4x4 freq, actually.

...and as for the lowband stuff, I was under the impression that ESAR had all but abandoned their lowband gear. Of course, I'm no longer a SAR guy, and this stuff changes from day to day. (When you don't really DO anything, arguing about radio frequencies and other pointless politics is all consuming.)

The only thing we use lowband for is emergencies. Old Motorola brick HTs are stashed at waypoints on the land navigation course for trainees to use in case of an accident in case we need to rescue people. Hence, very very little. Normal comms are all highband. If anybody's monitoring whatever the king county SAR lowband frequencies are... you're probably never going to hear any traffic on them. Not worth it.

I'm in the process of joining Mountain Wave down here in Oregon and I am trying to picture our 4x4 guys talking on low band...they either use 2 meters or MURS.
