So I found an old Realistic [Radio Shack] PRO-54 Scanner at a thrift store for $2.99 - only thing is it doesn't pick up squat where I'm located in Marysville. It uses 8 crystals. My question: do they still produce crystals for these old radios, and is it possible to find ones that would work for Anacortes area? I gave my mother my old scanner and she loves it, although this would be a definite upgrade. Thanks!

Yes, they still make crystals. New -- going for $ 6.00 to $ 8.00. Even Radio Shack gets $ 5.95 to $ 6.99 + Tax. Best site for used crystals is G+G Communications in New York State. Around $ 3.50 to 4.00. They even fix scanners.
