I'm sad to report that Bob Donnell, KD7NM, is a silent key.
Bob had been very active over the years in his support of public service events, such as the Seattle Marathon, RAMROD, Tri-Island Trek, and as member of various emergency organizations. He was most recently associated with the South Snohomish County RACES organization.
Bob had been instrumental in the early days of packet radio, in establishing a packet digital network around Puget Sound, and integrating TCP/IP into it.. He was exceptionally skilled at the data and digital portions of our hobby.
Over the years, he had worked at various RF and computer organizations, including AEA (when it was in Lynnwood), and was currently working at an RF amplifier facility in Woodinville, I believe as an engineer.
Bob usually spread himself too thin, and was always trying to help people with their projects. He had so much knowledge about radio and digital protocols - it was hard NOT to let him help.
It is believed he died over the weekend sometime, but many of the details are not know yet. He was not know to be suffering from any particular illness, so this death and his young age (early 50's) makes this a bit of a shock.
When funeral are know, I'll post them here.
He is a good friend of mine, and he will be missed.
Brad.
