Radio Shack has a new portable scanner (still not on their web site).
Info about it can be found at this link...

Looks like a nice, basic, entry level radio for the n00b enthusiast.

That, or a fashion victim's radio.

:puke:

Wil,
Can't quite read the writing on your new avatar but it looks good :D

I wonder if it (PRO-107) will receive text messages
If it only receives the stuff from the radiobarf data base who would want it?
I could care less about stuff out of my area. I wonder how long it takes to scan
thru the radiobarf data base?

Radio Shack & GRE sure weren't thinkin with their dip stick :bowrofl:

iScan V.001 The begining of a new era

So I'm picking up either Northgate Mall Security or a Drive Thru in Chicago. A scanner loaded with a national database, great.

It's small & runs on 2 "AA" batteries.

Dimensions Approximately 4 15/16” x 2 5/16” x 1” (127 x 60 x 27 mm) (HWD) Weight Approximately 6.7 oz. (190g) without antenna and batteries.

Wonder what the price will be?

Link for manual...

Maybe the design is for the "don't ask - don't tell" crowd.

Or cops wont know you have a scanner when they pull you overm they'll just think it's a ipod.

That's because it's programmed from their data base

Which was partially copied from our database. So I guess the "i" is for "Intercept".

I called RS and asked for a price check. RS sku # is 20-107. The price they stated was $229.99 and could ship it to me, but none of the stores in the area had it nor when they might get some in. It isn't on RS web page... I agree that with others that this scanner and name (iScan) looks like a clock radio that you would find at a dollar store but I do like the size (not a brick like other GRE scanners), takes 2AA not 4AA like other GRE scanners and the fact that you have all of the US systems in the scanner and is selectable by state, county and city. Compared to having RS "program" a scanner and giving back to a customer is like watching a monkey do algebra and having them trying to figure out their "programming". I can't tell you how many people I reprogrammed their scanner for after radio shack programed it with their "scancat". I also wondered how much they paid RS to have their database in it and does that mean that if I want an up to date database I need to pay for a subscription? It is also rumored that this scanner is suppose to be a black Friday deal. Like others, I will wait for others to get this and see what others say about it unless the black deal price is $50...

It may not even support the digital modes. My theory holds water if your price information is correct. It must be a generic trunktracker.
