I am getting my cash in order for a new radio, thinking about the FlexRadio 5000a unit. Anyone have one in the area that wants to chat about it?

It only covers HF+6m?

For 3k$ why not get something with a bit more coverage?

haha, you think that is fun check out what I have wet-dreams over the IC-7800

and if you want to really go to town the FT-DX-9000 (im just a icom boy)

the tax on those radios are 1/3 the price of the flex

tack on a VL-1000 or IC-PW1 and you have a 20k radio (dont forget you need to get a MIC and a paddle)

and this is all with out an antenna! I just cant justify my little dipole on the back end of the 7800

but consider this, that huge ass price tag still isnt as bad as the IC-R9500 and that cant talk back!

Heck... That is what a brand-new Collins complete S-line station cost
back in 1958...

And that Flex 5000 would run circles around that Collins. :D

Considering the price of Gold is over a thousand an ounce today, and in 1958
much less than that, the price of good ham gear has gone DOWN, WAY
down over the history of the hobby!!!!!
