Not sure what you're trying to do, but it already has packet output.

yea the only hardware change to the radio is it now has a TAP pre done for you like the GRE units.

I say this nicely but I will show you where in the manual it is for 5 bucks start with this in the index...

Control Channel Data Output – allows the analysis of control channel data without the need to perform invasive modifications to the scanner

Unfortunately most of the software available for decoding control channels (Trunker et al) won't read the scanner's output, it still relies on raw audio. So I think the tap is still a useful mod.

Since you're going to park the radio on the control channel, anything radio that will tune that frequency will work... it need not be done on your new, fancy one. That said, since the 346XT looks a lot like a 396T and XT, I suspect the mod similar.

I thought it was a extra tap on the radio? thats the way they billed the feature orginally

is it a digital output for uniden software only?

I should RTFM

I didnt see a Official "how to" however the yahoo group for the radio would be the place to start asking. Otherwise if your not handy with a solder. im sure someone will offer up. I live in renton and could assist.
