I've had the Airlift and MEDCOM TGs in the scan list for a while now, and they're quiet. The UHF side has had activity but I can't listen to them both at the same time. Are the TGs outdated?

On 2/23/09 at 15:35:17 via 851.8125, on 61808 (Medcom 1), 5-6 announced it was on the ground, and then a dispatcher time stamped it. That's the only time I ever caught it in 4 months of monitoring the system in open mode.

Don't look for Airlift in TGID. They are not there. The TG has been allocated but never used.

Airlift doesn't use a 800 radio, but the Squak Mt MED-1 repeater is patched to
a talkgroup for quite a few users. You can hear the short reports as welll as location updates quite often.

A lot of Snohomish County users will talk to ALNW on State Ops 1 which is in simplex mode on the 800 radios. It is my understanding that all Fire radios have State Ops 1. This is also true for when a lot of different agencies are up at the Washington State Fire Academy.

Firedawg,

I find it that a good number of departments in Sno Co have no clue how they are talking to ALNW... I would say a strong 90+% of the time the dispatchers patch up VHF Fire Tac with Tac 4 (for example) ... Last week we had a department who used the VHF Fire Tac, and asked that we did not patch anything....They used a VHF radio at the LZ.

Whatever works. I dont mind. In fact I like it when I am able to hear what is going on. Makes it easy when Airlift dispatch calls in to ask if their bird is on the ground yet.

On fire we have 770 still avail. SAR still has their 415, DEM still has a VHF freq. Im pretty sure that LERN is also still avail... I will do some snooping.

These are not used for anything other then patching, or Mutial Aid. In the case of the 770, We tend to use that with ALNW since they are not running our system on 800. ( If command does not tell us what TG they want ALNW on, we patch up 770 w/ whatever the incident is on.)

Airlift does have 800 mhz simplex for State OP and I-Call. No trunking. Yes the have a TG but aren't using it.

There is a fully functional 800 mhz portable to be used in emergencies, i.e. natural disaters. to contact EOC, Valley Comm etc.

Putting in an 800 mhx trunk tracking base units, trunk tracking portable in each aircraft and using the trunk tracking portable for just short final traffic seemed overkill. State OP1 simplex has worked fine for over 10 years no.

I have not worked there since 04 and do not hear any changes on the air, 800 mHz trunking for each aircraft would cost 30k. Not worth it for scene size ups.
