"What the hell is wrong with this damn radio! Oh.....Woops...Control, Engine 95 accidental trip no problem."

The things you hear over your scanner.....

haha

that's good. The best I ever heard was a guy who left the key down and was bitching about the dispatcher, she came on and was like ...boy 2 your open mike. hahah

Hey, let's start a "Best/Funniest/Scariest this you ever heard on a scanner" thread.

A couple years ago I heard WSP in a foot pursuit where the officer held the mike button a couple seconds too long and you could hear him yell at the fleeing felon, "STOP OR I'LL SHOOT YOU!".

Or many years ago I heard a Benton (OR) county deputy trying to round up some loose horses and the dispatcher asked him for a description of the remaining horse. His breathless reply, "Black and fast!"

I can remember quite a few years ago when two police officers were driving in a car together and the mic was keyed for at least two hours. We and the entire department were lucky enough to hear about the weekend of one of the officers
in livid detail. I think it had to do with a stewardess and a hotel. Lots of people
tried to talk over them but since the mic was keyed of course they didn't hear
the warnings. This went on long enough that by the time the mic went dead everyone knew exactly who had been talking.
I am sure it took a long time to live that one down :D

Jim, your tale must have been before cell phones. I would have thought after a couple hours of zero traffic over the radio may have been a clue.

Anyway, I have a bunch.
Wife riding with en route child exchange:
E/B I-90 MP 156 a couple winters ago; WSP w/ multiple collision's, stuck portable:
"I can't believe these fucking dumbasses, I'm getting the fuck outta here"
155.505 (R) Ephrata. For all to hear.

Hehe. Had wife cracking up for awhile. Me too.

Jim,
Was that in King County in the early '90's? If so i heard that call. He was an amateur radio operator. Even gave his call sign when the dispatcher asked who he was.
They tried switching channels and he followed them telling the dispatcher he knew more about their radio system then she did.
That started on the old KCSO 460.525 repeater.

Yes it was Vince. I can't remember all the details but it was in the Seattle area
in the 90's.

Wonder if he is still a ham or on this board

Good video of the truck crash.

In the late 80's I was taking Seneca St offramp from N-Bound 99, looked down, and saw what looked like my older brother's station wagon and a Fire Truck tangled up at an intersection.

Found out later my bro' was dutifully sitting at the light while SFD Engine 5, on a response, lurned left (from his right) and kept turning, into his car. Instead of taking a 90 degree left turn, it was more like 120 degrees, for a moment.

He was pretty cool about it, his biggest complaint was how bloody long it took them to investigate. He was stuck at the intersection for more than 4 hours.

At least it was a sunny day...

That was in south King Co near Federal Way. His name was Randy (I will skip posting his last name). He left the state soon after that incident and I don't think he ever returned. A couple other people here on Intercept know who this person is....
