The batts in my 8200 have lasted a long time...but oddly...will not drive my favorite Sony AM/FM pocket radio. i think sony built the circuitry logic around a typical alkaline input and drain curve, as the radio has a 100+ hour on time, i think it has very simple logic for alkaline max and drain only.
