i have a question, my friend got several "ge tpx" radios from his work. i cannot find a model number on them (except the "tpx" written on the front. they have buttons for "group", "area", and you can switch it to "direct" which is how we use them. also when they are on in "direct" mode, every once in a while, you will hear a broadcast from what i think is a 800 trunked channel, if the carrier stays on between users you will hear both sides of the transmission but if the carrier is lost thats all you hear untill the next time. kind of like if you had a scanner programmed with one 800 trunk channel only. Are these radios capable of anything more than "direct" two way communication as we use them for, or can they be programed to reciece talk groups on the systems we have around here even though they're ge rather than motorola.
