well it's illigal to listen to cordless phone conversations, so to make sure you don't listen to it don't scan between 42-49 Mhz, and again from 902-929 Mhz.
These modifications you hear of are to restore a permenently blocked out part of your scanner somewhere near the 850 Mhz zone.. with in this zone are cellular telephones. (different from corless phones)
And the reason why your scanner jumps to the nearest freq when you enter one is because it's "round up or down".. our world we rounds numbers to the nearest 1. in scanning world radios round to the nearest freq that the FCC sais there can be a transmitter.. so your scanner jumped from 902.28 becuase it KNOWS there cannot be any transmission there and went to the closest place that it knows might be a transmission.
: I have a couple questions.
: 1. I have a Radio Shack PRO-89, can I scan cordless calls ??
: I keep hearing about modifying scanners etc., so I'am not sure
: 2. Why is it when I enter a frequency, the number I enter might be
: something like 902.28, but after I hit enter the scanner changes it
: to 902.272 or something like that.

: Thanks.
