1. Since the first radio was invented and somebody listened to it. You will have to look up a year on Marconi.
2. I'm not sure, but I think that the first multi-channel (crystal) scanners came out in the early 60's
3. The first PPL (the father of todays scanners) scanner came out in the late 60's or early 70's. I can't remember if the Bearcat 101 or the Opti-scan (used combs) was first
