I was at SNOCOM earlier this week, getting a tour from an employee/friend of mine. They are currently setting up the "temp" trailer in the parking lot, where the operation will move while the building is being renovated. In looking at the plans, SNOCOM is going to build onto just about the entire south face of the Public Work building - over doubling their size. They will have the capacity for over 12 operating positions when complete, and have quite a few nice aesthetic enhancements to make working there a little more pleasurable.

They also plan on doing away with the two-tone sequential paging format, in favor of a county wide alphanumeric paging system. They will still have to give out a voice dispatch on some talk group, but the days of actually hearing the beloved "tone out" are marked.
They also claim that the administrators will be using this paging system for their everyday paging needs - though I can't possibly see how their proposed system could compete with the commercial companies in coverage area and building penetration.

She also indicated that by this time next year, the 800 system should be installed to a great degree, and they should be migrating to it. Seems like a bold timeline, but their building schedule is tied into the 800 schedule.

Lots to look forward to in Sno Co in the next year.

: Some signal testing has begun for the new SNO PAC / SNO COM 800mhz system. Some of the Phase Two (North Sno. Co.) tower sites that are planned are: King Lake, 3 Lakes, Clearview, and Index. The King Lake site is currently licensed but not yet in daily operation. System designing should be completed by years end, and then an equipment order will be placed next year.

: Anybody else have any info on this project ?
