Nope, It's the BC278. The BC248 does not cover 800mhz The BC278 does and that is what I bought @ Best buy.

: I think you mean the BC248 - it's a pretty nice scanner for the price. Very plain - nothing fancy. Good for a starter. They also sell the BC60 30 channel handheld there. We bought both of these a couple years ago.
