i thought the ricochet has the cool boxes? they pull power from light posts by jumping inbetween the light and the photo sensor that turns them on at night on top of the lamp reflector housing. the whole ricochet box (size/shape of a shoe box) hangs upside down from the lamp arm, with the power cable shotting up to the lamp and the antenna hagning straight down from the center of the shoe box. their antenna is a 1/4 wave, open phase coil (3 - 5 loose turns) and then a 5/8's length (like a car cell fon or seattle trunking antenna)

my sighting could have been a bad judgement in length but if it's a 1/4 wave i would guess it was between 600-700Mhz.. not a little stubby 800.

they were all over down town!! about one every 2 blocks.

: : woodenville has some 1/4 wave 600Mhz antennas on street lamps. what's up with that?

: Could it have been 800mhZ? i know there is a company called Ricochet that operates 800mhZ wirelees internet from street poles. Their site shows them currently in chapt 11, but a company called Burst Wireless in Kirkland has these pole top relays too...but they operate in the gigs. Hope this helps.
