How does that antenna do?

Looks like it is not good for 800.

Any idea as to what this could be CP? I have 3CE and 4CE NACs up this way... 3CE is NPS and 4CE is USFS. (The 4CE user is relatively new... I found that on my last VHF NAC search...)

The 163.125 $4CE is what used to be the Hoover Dam Police. The frequency seems to be either conventional or a link to the Department of the Interior trunked system that covers the Hoover Dam area.

The Air Antenna is pretty good. It does very well on VHF & UHF aircraft as well as VHF & UHF land mobile. I haven't tried it much on 700/800 MHz, so I can't speak to it's capabilities there.

The big selling point is obviously the portability. I can set up this fairly large antenna and then roll it up into a nice, small pouch for travel.

Just FYI, I'm hearing them active recently up in the Seattle area. RIDs here are 647xxxx. I've logged (8) unique RIDs under that prefix. Seems to be ENC most of the time but probably 75% for now...

Just back from an overnight in Vegas, add TGID 19 to the Red Rock Resort list. Only traffic was someone asking if Jason was on that channel.

Apparently he was not.

Sat around on my ass Saturday (20 April) night and then around 10PM, I decided I might as well go do some fishing in Vegas. It was the last night of the NFL Draft thing (held in Vegas), plus tourism has been way-up over the past month or tow, so I knew that night would be a very good night for fishing, as most of my specific & general targets should be very busy, thus theoretically, busy on the radio freqs too. And the weather was nice enough to plan on sitting stationary in my car for a couple hours.

I arrived alongside Fremont Street Experience around 10:30PM, parking on a street running parallel, one block N & combined scanning the various licensed freqs of targets as well as doing some searching, and scanning BRS.MURS/FRS on another radio.

A lot of the big stuff is already known -- FSE, the hotels/casinos, etc. what I was mostly interested in was simplex, low-power, bar/club security/ops, etc. & for such a busy night, I really didn't find a lot over the couple hours I sat there like the radio-geek that I am...

462.7875/123.0 – Security/Operations channel for Gold Spike's “Oasis” nightclub S. Unlicensed, or possibly WRAW817 or WRFD290 https://goldspike.com/

Funny story: Clay & I went there with some other people a couple years ago. Short line to get in, but the bouncer spots me and politely says "Sir, I'm not going to be able to allow you in with that!" as he points to my waistline. I'm thinking "Damn, this guy is *good* -- he somehow spotted my gat!" but then he continues with "If you can leave that pocket knife back if your hotel room or vehicle or something, then come-on back to the front of the line!" Dude had noticed the clip of the pocket-knife clipped into my pants pocket, & was referring to it. So I jogged back to my car a block away, ditched the folding knife, then jogged back to the Gold Spike Oasis entry point., Bouncer remembered me, let me come to the front of the line, and in I walked, with a concealed Springfield Armory XDm 3.8 with 20+1...

462.6375/123.0 -- Gold Spike's Oasis nightclub "Porters" & EVS channel (channel 7). FRS channel 4.

Only due to the CTCCS, the below many be related to Gold Spike:

462.6625/123.0 -- "Can we get some water down to the cashier?" FRS channel 5.

***************
I "strapped-up" & walked around for a little while, though the people-watching from the car over the past couple hours had already made me somewhat depressed. The FSE area was packed. 6 fat, ugly chicks & 4 plain chicks for every 1 cutie. Both the fatties and the cuties wearing tight, revealing clothes that almost seem to scream “rape me” just like leaving a new corvette convertible running unattended on an urban street implies “steal me!” so it was actually the plain chicks that were the most alluring.

And with the cute women, it was depressing to consider that most were under half my age. Everything in the area reeks of marijuana, and by around 2AM, the majority of the people you see out & about look, sound & smell like they’re visitors from Southern California ghettos, plus homeless and some locals appearing to just be hanging-out, looking for trouble.

More and more these days, hitting the LV Strip & FSE is tantamount to visiting a zoo — weird sights & sounds, primitive behavior with a sense of danger, and some unpleasant smells. It still sucks to get old, but I’m glad I’m not part of that crowd. Also glad that occasionally I do jump into that fetid sea of inhumanity while I can (the nursing homes don’t exactly have shuttle buses running to those areas), but each time I do, my tolerance for the environment gets shorter, and it’s a reminder that I belong at home with the dogs most of the time. Bah, Humbug!

I left the FSE area around 1AM & headed to the new Peppermint Hippo strip club a few miles away on Las Vegas Blvd. As a brand-new strip club, WilRobinson had been pestering the hell out of me to scout the place out for him -- he likes skanks, not nubile young hotties, and hates putting on his Zoot Suit & playing the cover charge to get in, then discover the women aren't "thicc," so I parked within LOS of the employee entrance door & took the requested video for him before I focused on my radio geekery.

Sat there for about 30 minutes but only one of their WRPV681 licensed freqs was ever heard operational:

461.675/179.9 Simplex -- Peppermint Hippo Ops. WRPV681

Next, I headed back to AREA 15, with collocated MEOW WOLF and the new Illuminarium. Sat there Thursday after leaving the NFL Draft, but only a couple freqs were active then. I figured late on a Saturday night/early Sunday morning, the place would be packed, and thus more radio-activity. Sat in the lot for about 30 minutes, but only a couple already-known radio freqs were active, and numerous radio freqs of theirs previously heard were actually quiet. Weird...

Having done the most recent firmware update for my 5 Unident 996P2s did seem to help with simplex DMR reception, plus I was as close-enough to where I just don't think the freqs were active, versus the Unidont having poor DMR sensitivity.

One other FOI. When I first came across it while searching from home, it was clear it was a large, sports venue ("visiting team lockers," "Laundry room" "alternate box-office" "Executive suites" "Section 107, row 23, seat 17" et al) I got excited thinking it was LV Raiders, either their HQ/Training Camp (about 8 miles from my home but with a small ridgeline in-between) or the Allegiant Stadium (about 14 miles, partially LOS) because it is an NFL licensed freq for LV (WQPL815) though licensed for low-power. Further listening over-time suggests it's WQUM323:

463.5625 DMR CC1 TS2 TG200: Las Vegas Ballpark (LV Aviators baseball stadium) Guest Services. R RIDs 3045, CC1 TS2 TG 201 – Security ops. R. Most traffic seems to be on this frequency, yet sometimes only one side of the conversation is heard, thus possibly a Cap+ system though my unidents do not indicate so.
