I bought a scanner from under one of those glass cases back in the 80's.

Most of us here probably did.

Count me out of that number. I went in there twice and was met with such downright hostility when I revealed I wasn't a ZOMG!!!11 "ham" that I never returned.

I wonder if he ever sold any of those $170 Maxon FRS radios?

I'm talking about when it was located on the east side of the road in N-city.
You were still playing Pong.
When it moved, I agree, the customer service left also.

Yagi and (can't really see it in the pics) an open-coil VHF antenna. Two cameras there, one right next to the antennas aimed down Cherry, and the traffic cam on the pole above. The wire mesh covered thing is apparently a floodlight.

Ideas?

Took this pic from work, not even realizing I'd caught Airlift on short final into Harborzoo.

Nah, that sign is near a complex of transmitter sites at Dixon, CA. There is an active Navy site, the old VOA site, and the ATT/Globe Wireless KMI high seas site.

The gate to the VOA Dixon transmitter site, now used for cattle grazing. The big curtain antennas still stand.

I should offer a prize to the first one to identify this location... such as a pair of pants.

Is that what happened about a month ago? I used to listen to the LE North on 155.58, then they disappeared and I started hearing LE on the former FD North 154.4. So now instead of having a North and a South freq, they now simulcast from both sites on the same freq?

I am not sure how they are using the new "system", but I will ask.. I have multiple friends at Red, White & Blue Fire as well as Lake Dillon...

I lived over the hill in Leadville for 15 years. I have been to the Tyrolean site as well as the new Peak site on top of the Ski area. Most of my work time was spent in Park/Chaffee/Lake Counties as well as the entire western part of the state...
