Question from a friend:

Obama landing at Paine Field, Everett:

With the rear tires on the ground but the nosewheel still off the ground in landing attitude, the pilot operated reverse thrust to more slowly ease the landing gear to the ground, ever so slowly, ever so gracefully.

The maneuver was apparent in the live view from the left rear, when the thrusters kicked up increasing debris and spray in the light brown exhaust blast.

Has anyone here ever been on a flight when reverse thrust was applied before the nosewheel touched down?

Reversers are available once the mains sense "on ground", what's unusual is leaving the nose up so long. Must be an old USAF habit from fighters, it really hurts your stopping distance.

Heard them arrive on 125.6, quiet around here with the field closing.

Since he's departing Paine Field and heading East what's gonna be the best ATC freqs to catch AF1 on? I got him heading South to California on 128.3 last time. I'm a little south to hear anything good today but LERN and MARS have both been very active.

Last transmission from AFI was on 128.45 going from 29 to 31 because of turbulence and cleared to Joliet. SAM 49 followed about 50 minutes later and and he was headed to 41k. AFI stayed down for a smother ride???
