Going through and checking the stuff I have programmed for Paine Field Tower. I have a question on a couple of notes associated with the listed Frequencies.

109.3 - PAINE FIELD ILS/DME RWY 16R
110.6 - PAINE FIELD VOR/DME PAE
114.2 - PAINE FIELD VOR PAE

So what is ILS, VOR and DME mean?

ILS: Instrument Landing System. This is the glideslope and localizer that provides guidance down to the runway threshold.

VOR: VHF Omnidirectional Radio range. A system of fixed directional beacons, sometimes at an airport, sometimes freestanding.

DME: Distance Measuring Equipment. Often co-located with a VOR, allows you to figure the distance from a beacon, as well as a heading, giving you a reasonably precise location.

Ahh ok. So this is nothing that will have voice communications on it, correct?

And I'm assuming that holds true for ATIS frequency too?

Thx for the help.

Correct.

ATIS is a recorded loop of current airport information. So it's voice, but not "live".

http://www.airnav.com/airport/KPAE

On the right, under 'airport diagram', select the link to download the .PDF (official FAA published) version.

Airnav will have the comm frequencies for all public airports in the US.

Thanks for that .pdf link.

Ok, my last question I think. I noticed that there are two different frequencies published for Tower and Ground control.

Both East and West have their own frequency, but also have a common frequency listed of 256.7. Are the two different tower frequencies simulcast on 256.7?
