If it's not too late to jump in on this... The DOL in Kirkland off of 85th knows this shtick and will be able to process the order without any fuss. At least... that was the case a couple years ago when I had one.

When it comes to a ham plate with a WSP suffix, it doesn't matter who you know. A resolution/procedure change was made by DOL at the request of Washington State Patrol two years ago that no further ham plates would be issued that have WSP in the call. This was because they could see that a number of them were vanity calls and WSP felt the public could be confused or misled when they saw the plates. Existing plates will be renewed or replaced as needed.

Just his call was (k)7wsp (may have been w or n), nothing about a license plate.

negative, I read somewhere that you need to request that specifically. If you have a current valid plate they dont issue that by default. I just run with "dual plates" and about a day or two after they mail my K7MHI they drop the old Axxxxx plate.

I was bummed I wanted a temporary but didn't write down anywhere that I wanted it. oh well back to waiting. the truck is missing a engine right now anyway so it don't matter. I am going to start painting the new engine today and hopes with possible "re-start" of the truck by next weekend

Actually...there are several hams who have "WSP" in their callsign besides the one icom1020 noted. One of them is someone I know and a "cop" too but, I'm sure he doesn't have vanity plates!

It's a WAC. You can keep them if you have them but no new ones issued.

It has been codified in RCW pending a bill passing.
