Bringing this up again because I saw this http://www.uniden.com/products/productd ... er=Digital and it looks very appealing. i would love a smaller sized radio than my Pro-164. I also like the idea that it has a remote head for car operation....

Does anyone have one of these yet?

I would hold off on the 396XT. User reports are either very good or very bad - this of course depends on the system you're listening to.

Uniden's programming software has been indefinitely "delayed" and there's no ETA yet.

You're better off getting a used 396T - especially since there isn't a whole lot of P25 to listen to in this area. A lot of people are selling their 396T's for 1/2 the price.

I'm happy with my XT. P25 audio is better. It has control-channel output. Tracking P25 control channels in multipath is still tough - a good antenna helps. And it's the only radio I've got with unused memory!

yes
BP is in P25 digital format now as is many other US Gov agencies that use to operate in analog mode with ctcss/pl tones.

btw BP now uses a digital tone or NAC instead of ctcss/pl tone.
I'll let you figure that one out yourself :P

cbsa operates on the following freqs.
both repeater output and input freqs listed below

406.9375/411.9375
407.0875/412.0875
408.1375/413.1375
410.4375/415.4375
410.4625/415.4625
all in analog nbfm mode.
some areas may use the repeater output freq for
simplex comms ????

as usual these freqs are licensed for low power repeater operations so you'll have to be quite close to a border crossing to hear them...unlike you guys that operate 5000 mega watt CBP/DHS repeaters that can be heard on the mean streets of downtown Vancouver :P

note: IBET/RCMP border divison also look after border issues too
this is usually done on enc p25 frequencies.
once in awhile they will come up on uscbp frequencies as "november" unit id.
Our police helicopter use to come up on your cbp frequencies as Air-1 before the switch to P25.
Im sure they have p25 radios in thier helicopter but I dont hear them
coming up on cbp freqs now for combined events???

add
425.5625 and 425.6875 to the list of cbsa frequencies.
both are simplex frequencies so again you'll have to be close to the border to hear them.
