I just wrote a 5 paragraph reply to this and when I hit submit, was told "you must be logged in to do that".
Argh.
I'll try and hit the high points of my rebuttal:
-While snitching may not be THE reason, I can tell you for a fact it is A reason.
-I mumbled something about Nextel and the Antichrist here.
-I opined that while CB is all well and good, any jagoff can jump on there. These VHF MURS, garbage band and marine band freqs were, while not licensed or secure, at least free from that.
-I randomly spouted that while they may not have wanted their comments recorded, they also could've been avoiding the Brass, criminals that know how to program scanners and follow FCC licensing (rare, I know), or other cops in the department.
-I ranted about poor Joe Schmuckatelli in Indy, who realizing that all the cops have switched to the P25 MECA system there, and, unable to buy a P25 scanner, was listening to the only thing he could. Now that's gone, and we have a little less insight into the cops, and a little more mistrust on the part of the cops regarding Joe Citizen and his scanner.
-A bit about a dog.
-I offered up my thought for the day: Someone here in Pierce County is yakking away on an old ValleyComm channel. I know they're not licensed on it. So do I:
A- Continue listening to the offbeat comments and gain some insight into that department; or 2- Run crying to God, the FCC and everyone about how I had to take a test for my license, so should they, it's not fair, etc?
I've made my choice.
-Lastly, I mused that sure, someone may have been offended by off-color language in this situation. Can you hear worse on any number of freqs at any time? Including the SPD Command talkgroups? Resounding answer- yes.
I'm copying this whole reply to the clipboard before hitting submit this time.
