SCOUT 18 landed at McChord this afternoon followed by NODAK 71, 72, 73 and NINJA 11.

That might explain what I was hearing on 364.2 all afternoon down in Portland. Sounded like someone directing aircraft to targets.

They were on 364.2 on Tuesday also, so there may be an exercise going on for a couple of days.

Here's what I got today:


364.2 WADS. THUMPER/SCOUT 18, NODAK 71-73, ICER 31 and 32, TRACK 10, SCALP 93 working in W-237. THUMPER and NODAKS recovered at McChord.


McChord AFB arrivals
NINJA 11
SLAM 98
SONIC 87

this is the exercise thats happening up here


been hearing alot of aircraft on uhf-am freqs the past two weeks
all taking part in this ex

Hitman-11 up with various other aircraft
Cheeta-71 passing flight level info---off Victoria on route to comox

CHEETAH, JUDAS used by the Alpha Jets.
CROSSBOW used by 409 Sqn
HITMAN used by F-15s from Mountian Home
NIGHTMARE 59 (single F-18) and what sounded like TIGER or DAGGER 41 Flight arrived in the area

They are in Area CYA 163 off the west coast
freqs were mentioned 234.7/234.4/228.9

281.600 Red GCI
274.400 Blue GCI
228.900 Common
270.200 Air to Air used by CROSSBOW flights

any idea who callsigns "AirShip Arise" is ??? heard them up today on the exercise freqs.

Station "Thumper" was also up...I think it was a awacs a/c by the sounds of it.
co-ordinating various aircraft in and out of the exercise area this afternoon.

An E-8 crewman heard ARISE on Satcom yesterday talking to DEERHUNTER, they went to 9023.0 for a signal check. He didn't know who it was though.

Today (6/19) I heard what sounded like another AWACS on station, but he was working with LONGRACKS looking for a VHF frequency they could use...
