Other than the sudden, unfinished, shorter reaching conversion to digital TV, now the media wants 3D? This is going to exclude a lot more viewers- so why the rush? Shouldn't they finish resolving all the digital broadcasting problems first?

The short answer to your question is YES -- the FCC and the TV broadcasters should complete the switch over to HDTV -- before moving on to new matters. However -- The NEW members of the FCC -- now want to "Sell off the farm". And some TV Station owners -- are ready to sell of the pigs and cows. The FCC is proposing to FORCE TV to move to the internet, sell off all or as much of the TV channel spectrum as possible and is willing to share what the FCC hopes is a very large pot of gold -- to be tossed into a nationwide auction of all tv spectrum -- to broadband radio users at auction. Thus making all over the air TV -- a dead service like the AM radio band.

I just got this, it was cheaper then a cable bill but also in 3D I just tested out the traffic channel this morning on the way to work, it was excellent quality. I also enjoy that unlike the competitors these provide active feedback, for example when I watch a fight scene in the bar I can actually feel the glass shards as they fly in the air after a bottle is cracked over someones head. Outstanding technology and if you order now you get the visor clip.

Is this after eating mushrooms and wearing the glasses? :D
