I can't find any status or indicator as to how many people are requesting the $40 DTV coupon. It would be an interesting trend to keep track of. http://www.ntia.doc.gov/ntiahome/frnoti ... 202006.htm |

:D A few problems. Each "homeowner" or "Household" can apply for only two coupons. You can not use both coupons -- as a discount on only one converter box unit. Some addresses are "blocked" -- and can not be used to apply for a coupon. (ie: Business Address, P. O. Box, School or college dorms, etc.) Average costs at Target, Walmart, and the like -- from $ 150 to $ 200 per converter box. A small -- good HDTV could cost $ 400 - $ 500. There are a "limited number" of coupons. ----- It would have been better to just allow everyone to deduct $ 100 from their Federal Tax return, or receive a check for $ 100.00, if you do not have to file. |

For a number of reasons, I have been looking since Thursday for a D2A box. (Namely, KCPQ on their secondary digital channel has 24 hour weather available). Circuit City thinks they will have them mid Feb. Radio Shack thinks they will be in before the end of the month. Target, Walmart, Fred Meyers, and others don't seem to have them. Best buy has about 50 boxes per store coming in this week, I am told, and the price should be 59 bucks a box. (With the coupon, that reduces the effective price to 20 bucks) I will be checking daily to see if/when they show and report. Steve |

well this looks like a crack pot, i just wanted to get one free and open her up and see whats inside (being that my televisions can decode already or use cable tv) @Atomic Taco are you kidding me? and actually your wrong anyway Plural forms The plural form of a noun indicates simply that there are more than one of the person or thing in question. For most nouns, the plural form includes the letter "s" at the end of the word: (the correct would be) |

Take it from someone that works there. |

Daily checks through last evening had no units in town yet. I am specifically looking at the Insignia converter to be sold by Best Buy. Circuit City indicated that their unit would be in the mid $60 range, but had no clue as to what brand. Oh, and there is a Samsung unit out there on the shelves at Best Buy currently. But I'll be darned if I am going to spend $175 bucks on it. Pendantic Semantics aside, I shall endeavour to more precisely relate the names of corporations in an attempt to avoid offending. Steve |

So far the only Coupon Program eligable boxes that I have found to have FCC certification are the Zenith and Insignia models manufactured by LG. FCC ID BEJ9QKE00710 Kerwin |

Steve I've got the Samsung - it does HDTV decoding up to 1080i), 5.1 surround sound, and a variety of input/output options on the back. It's a more substantial unit than the "coupon" models. But, if you aren't decoding to a TV capable of all that stuff, then it would be a waste of money. The "coupon" boxes will be just fine for most of the old TV's. And lemme tell you - KCTS channel 9.5 looks REAL good in 1080i High Def.... Brad/N7JGX Whidbey Island, WA |

Ok, they are here. Best Buy got their shipment last night, and are trying to find room on the floor for them. Looks like the Everett Mall site has roughly 49 D2ACs. Picked mine up, put it on an amplified antenna, and am watching it now. Easy setup, good signal, and more variety of channels. (Though I wish KOMO would pump their ABC 24 hour news channel on their -2 signal) 59 bucks, coupon eligible. Steve |
