The FCC has "allocated" two new FM Broadcast frequencies for Oak Harhor. 94.5 as a Non-commercial channel and 103.3 as a commercial frequency. Sedro Woolley gets 105.7. All frequencies are for class "A" FM stations -- with just 6 KW ERP at + 100 Meters HAAT. The 60 dBu serve area is about an 18 mile radius.

Whats the status of KMCQ moving to Covington? Will they still have a station in The Dalles?

:D I haven't heard a word, but the FCC issued a CP (Construction Permit) just one year ago -- so they still have another two years to get on the air -- by Sept. 20, 2008. I thought about moving them in back in 1970 -- long before I had 104.9 dropped in at Eatonville. Otherwise the 104.5 might have been able to go to a C2 or even a C1 -- with just the right site. A real "shoehorn" job. --- Once they move KMCQ to Seattle -- they will no longer be "on the air" in The Dalles.

MTM,

Is there a trend in broadcasting to convert to the JACK format of multiple tx'ers and one "studio" ? Will the big companies fill in "dead spots" with smaller stations and reach other new smaller markets ?

"JAC" and the lessor known "Jill" formats seem to be the "darlings" of radio formats -- today. It's just a re-work of other formats -- and a anti-format to "Guy and Girl" morning shows -- like "Mark & Kim" etc, etc. Music from the 1940's to early '50's are dead, while the first wave of "baby rock n rollers" are movin on out the door. There is not much to program -- other than 1970 to 1990 and some seem to be stuck in the late 1960's -- with the Beattles. Everyone from here on out -- will be using a personal IPOD. As far as what dirty tricks or things that the big time owners will do to make another buck or add another number to the bottom line --- keep both hands on your wallet.
