I find it hard to believe the dope smoking hippies in the ELF would have the brains to do this. I know the sign left at the scene says it was them, and of course they would be glad to accept the blame. I hope they do find the people responsible for this. I would assume the towers will cost in the millions to replace.

ELF has a bit more brains to pull off stuff like this. You must remember when they torched a bunch of H2 Hummers at Ron Tonkin Chevy back in 2002.

However, with that said, I've been told they have used "contracts" in the past to get the work done.

Lighting a fire is MUCH easier than getting that Trackhoe started and operated. My money is on a pissed off neighbor or land owner. If you heard what the neighbors said to the news, they were happy that the towers are gone.

Just the same F the tree hugging hippies and the ELF!!!!!

Well, the fire was one example as their preferred tactic is torching. They have done worse things like destroying a lab at U of Washington. I've seen the FBI background sheet on them and while they have no official leadership structure, they seem be learning new tricks in recent years to get their message across. And they seem to work with another group called ALF, which is more known in Europe for doing serious damage.

Interestingly enough, in March, they went down to Mexico to go torch construction equipment. Perhaps they did a dry run with some equipment there before completing their mission? Who knows.

But again, it would not surprise me if once they got up there, they had the neighbors do the dirty work and they hung up the banner and watched.

And either way, they are douchebags :)
