You can communicate -- without the SHOCK words. But in order to communicate -- you must not offend or tick off the very same persons that you wish to communicate to. Using bad taste in the words that you use -- just closes the ears and minds of the very persons you desire to communicate or speak to. If you continue to base Freedom on your right to use vulgur words - you will find words have meaning.

people will get offended by anythign these days, whether its strong language, farting in the room, or looking at them in a funny way, etc... the differance is, anyone i offend can change the channel, and those that are not, will continue to listen. I dont care about support from anyone, my goal to just broadcast a music format that people like to hear. big deal if a few songs have swearing in them. rap is a very popular genre these days, and many want to listen to it, without it being censored.

I dont wish your station to be shut down. I have been listening to it a lot lately.
I do wish you would slip a little more rock in. Most rap kind of rubs me the wrong way.

Im interested in your station details how it works and such if your into posting that.

Good luck with your project.

John

I am sorry to read that you don't care. Radio is a natural resourse - just like trees. I can only tune so many frequencies. Your idea that if they don't like your program - that they can just go some where else doesn't hold water. There are a LIMITED amount radio channels. What you are saying to the world is " I want to drive on both sides of the road at once and to hell with anyone else or THIER rights." You nor anyone else do not have a "Special" gift to offer the public. As any good citizen - I would protest if you mis-used a natural resource. You can't just burn all of the trees down -- just because YOU want to build a tree house with a view of the ocean. I can listen to the same music that you play elsewhere. You lost my support. You are either a fool or idiot. It doesn't matter to anyone. Your message is lost in the transmission mode. No one has a receiver that can receive your message because you have selected a transmission mode that the "Public" does not use nor want to hear.

One question for ya Chronic. Is it worth getting caught? Having your equipment taken, fines, etc.

Just wondering.

93.7 has no comercials that have heard. I guess its non profit.

I set up a ramsey fm radio station in my house so I could transmit computer music and internet radio to the stereos in the house.

I shut that sucker down real fast when I realized it was putting out a signal that reached over a mile!

We can't listen to them if we do not know what frequency they are on.

So getting caught is rare? I figured the FCC would be hot on this.

It's pretty simple, when they mail you a notice, you don't respond to it--no paper trail that you acknowledged their inquiry. It dosen't get you off the hook but it makes their process more difficult. What usually happenes is they license a class ( ) station on that freq which happened in Santa Cruz( a religious staion put up a translator) and the pirate had to move. 91.3 is licensed to KBCS in Bellevue and KCED in Centralia, both college stations By estimates , there are between a few hundred and a thousand non-licensed stations operating. So don't infere here that I condone one way of the other, just fyi.

Ok...So I'm guessing that as long as your not interfering with anyone else ex. cable tv, phone, any other transmitted signal, they (FCC) aren't going to mess with you?

If thats the way it is, thats good info for me.

Could it be the "Good Buddy" system going on here :?:

Thanx

Hey chronic,

Its great to have another non-licensed station in the area again. I'm glad you are keeping your output clean. I am picking you up in NE Tacoma very well on my home and car stereo.

If you want people to remember this station, put in some station identifications, throw up a website, and perhaps a message board. Get on the air live .. Using a free voicemail system and airing listener comments is another interesting idea. People just like to be a part of something exciting.

If you want to play hardball with the commercial radio guys, you will need the community on your side.

I think it was too fast of a shut down to be Gov. related.
I work for the government. Nothing happens that fast.

Anybody have a story to tell us?
:D
