Initial feedback has been positive but install/upgrade times range from 30min to 3hrs.

The Family Pack for 3 licenses of Home Premium is a decent value but the real feature everyone wants is the XP Compatible mode that is in Professional. This isn't the same 'ol XP mode as before. This gives you an included copy of XP to run in MS's now free Virtual Machine platform. So, buy 7 Pro and you get XP too. A VM is 99.999% as reliable/compatible as the real thing and should work just fine for those older Moto CPS apps.

Now, realistically there is no reason for the average home user to ever need anything more than Home. Everything you run now in Vista will work fine in 7. So don't get suckered into the higher price boxes just for the name sake. You'll likely never use the advanced features.

Any word how it plays with Windows Home Server?

I'm not sure about Home Server but Windows Server in general it is compatible back to Server 2003.

I've been using it (RTM, not RC) since mid-September. I skipped Vista. I've had problems with it, but it does seem to be a bit more stable than XP. It still has kinks, but it's been getting better. Some of the last hotfixes fixed the issue with my video card drivers crashing periodically. It's cool that 7 can recover from a driver crash without BSOD'ing, but my drivers never crashed on XP so that's a double edged sword.

Oh I love Windows 7. I got an RTM copy back in September as well and I love it!

A buddy of mine back in Toronto did some contract work via his employer for MS on some weird minor coding projects (he won't say what) and so he had an copy on his own work PC during the Alpha, Beta, and RC periods. When he got an Alpha copy, he was telling me right off the bat how "This won't be another Vista".

I got a thing in the mail addressed to my shell corporation offering a free install of Windows 7 at any Office Depot.

Huh...

I got my copy today. I'm going to load err up this weekend. I've been using it at work for past year or more so I'm not anticipating any new issues, but I am curious to see how my Nvidia card likes Windows 7.

BTW, no complaints so far about running Win7. It's pretty solid and seems to work fine with all of the radio software I use... even the older stuff.
