Post subject: | Farragut State Park / Idaho... |
Needing a little help here in locating some frequencies. I will taking a group of kids from our church to Farragut State Park in Idaho next weekend. We will be there for 4 days. Was thinking of taking a VHF portable (Kenwood TK-2180) and my RS Pro-92. Anybody have good freqs for this area? I know most law enforcement in Idaho is UHF, but would like to monitor park traffic and possibly decode some stuff. Any thoughts and help would be appreciated! Brian |

Farragut State Park was on 159.2250 (tone unknown)- used to be common in ID state campgrounds. If you are going to have anything with you in the way of Close Call technology it might come in handy in Bayview- the Navy has a very interesting installation in Bayview which is adjacent to the park. Acoustic Test and Analysis Center (ATAC) Bayview, Idaho http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... gths05.htm http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Boa ... ayview.jpg http://www.defenselink.mil/transformati ... 6W-081.jpg http://www.defenselink.mil/transformati ... _0Q7VS.jpg Besides the 'they' run a Half-Sized/Quarter Scale/Pint-Sized model of a real submarine on/under Lake Pend Oreille for spook submarine acoustic research. If you have not seen it before- Its the waterfront gated place with all the fence around it in 'downtown' Bayview. Hardly a secret. Freqs are another matter. I do not have any. Been there a couple of times hoping for hot spook radio action but left with my antenna in my hand when nothing was going on except for the contract security officer reading Nancy Drew and the patrol Trailblazer gathering a new layer of dust parked outside the security office. Not a large facility- couple of waterfront acres. I have not been there in 18 months or so. One of Keltys Military Books from 20+ years ago had some freqs but I cannot seem to locate them now.....probably no good anyway. As I recall they were in the 138-140 range. I never verified them personally when i could find them Perhaps some extrapolation from some of the Submarine Ops in Bremerton could be a good starting point. Perhaps not.
