What is a fair price to pay for programming a BCD396XT? Need about 15 area systems stored.

If the programmer has access to the system(s) to "test" the programming then the cost should be higher. If the programmer does not and cannot guarantee the data is correct, then it should be less.

Random guess would be about $25/hr...

15 systems could take a long time depending on the depth you want to go and how you want the scanner configured. I could see 15 systems taking several hours, presuming you want the programmer to be thorough.

There are so many variables to consider however...

Make friends with other scannerheads in your area is often helpful... A few years ago I had a guy in SF reprogram the SF system that I couldn't get working in a 396 and 396xt for $20 each and he even delivered the radios back to me for another $20...
