If anyone interested in Fusion, three repeaters went up in Winthrop, Mazama and Edmonds.

Speaking of *might*, there is one in the works to put one up in Clearview... Even though it might be in mix mode, it won't be on any network...Just stand alone.

Clearview might work better for me. The Baldi installation will likely take awhile (frequency coordination, access, interest of the repeater owner to do it....).

I just bought the FT-1D (the HRO special), it arrived yesterday. Will be working with it today.

Also - the 145.310 repeater in Redmond is Fusion. Not sure where in Redmond - I can't get into it from the Island.

Brad.

Brad I'll send you a PM when I get my new toy. Ordering the FTM-400DR this week.

A new fusion repeater went up in Clearview yesterday. It's on 442.975, mixed mode and isn't on any network.

Cool thanks for the update. I'll give it a shot tonight.

So how do you like the FT-1D? On sale for $299 at HRO, was pondering one. Even if I hardly use it for digital I can eavesdrop :-)

Heh, would be nice if there was actually any conversation to hear. Not many repeaters are using it. As Brad told me, a lot of groups used the repeater offer just to upgrade their repeaters -- and still run in FM mode.

I had the FTM-400DR -- it's actually up for sale on E-Bay right now. Brad and I had a couple of chats. The FT-1 seemed nice but if you're going to get into C4FM then I'd recommend their new mobile rig -- the FTM-100DR. Get the extra power.

For $299, it's not a bad radio. I just couldn't get past the volume control problem. That knob on top of the radio is used to change channels. It only becomes a volume control when you press and hold the "VOL" button on the side of the radio. Makes changing the radio volume a two handed operation. Not very convenient if you have the radio on your belt.

Also, several function that SHOULD be dedicated to front panel keys (like the TONE function) are buried in menus.

As Nick commented, there's not a lot of Fusion activity locally.

So, I sold my FT1-DR. I'll wait until Fusion matures a bit more before I try it again.

Brad.

I went looking but couldn't find any. Listen to 442.975 especially if you're up north or on a hilltop. If you hear digital there it's likely C4FM. It's the only local repeater I know that was actively using it.
