I'm going to be in the Wilsonville and Lake Oswego areas next week. I'd like to have a 440 repeater option in that area. Preferably - open, lower level, not linked to anything else, relatively quiet and (a bonus) in-building coverage around Lake Oswego. Street level coverage in Wilsonville is fine. All of this using commercial portable radios. A couple of contenders (gleaned from the Oregon AARG frequency site): Tigard 440.100 Sherwood 442.675 Not sure about the rest of the "Portland Metro" listings. Portland is like Seattle - the topography makes repeater coverage kinda challenging. I'll play with 900mhz down there as well - but want to try 440 first. Suggestions? Thanks, Brad. |

Well the two areas you have are a tall order; Lake Oswego is right in the worst of the Portland metro terrain since its a downtown by a lake right in the middle of the West Hills. N7PIR works pretty well in Lake O and not too bad out in Wilsonville. I hang out there plus a few other repeaters. |

Yea - that's what I was afraid of, after being in the area earlier this year. Lake O is a bit close to a group of hills, and didn't look like the Portland Metro stuff would be too promising. I may just program in the PIR system anyway, and see how it goes. We'll probably be using simplex most of the time anyway, but wanted a longer-reaching option. Thanks, Brad. |

KE7JFF (or anyone else in the know) - I got a few suggestions from the ARRG website. I have no idea how accurate it is. Tell me if these frequencies are appropriate for the area (and the tones) 440.450 103.5 (Portland/PIR) 440.100 162.2 (Tigard) 442.075 103.5 (Sherwood) 442.675 100 (Sherwood) 440.050 Unk (Oregon City) 441.650 107.2 (West Linn) 443.050 123 (West Linn) 444.900 100 (Wilsonville) 441.875 100 (Newberg) 443.425 107.2 (Newberg) 444.125 100 (Newberg) 444.300 127.3 (Newberg) 442.900 123.0 (Canby) Between these and a few simplex, that'll fill up my 16 channel radios.
