Here is how they are using a android application for control with DSTAR radios. Even though it's not in english, it gives you the idea...

ICOM better be careful about who their market is... granted, everyone is becoming (slightly) more tech-oriented but this can also be a turn-off.

Look at what Windows 8 did to the PC hardware market...
