I'm looking to buy (not build) a handheld yagi tuned for the 70cm frequency to use for tracking. Arrow Antenna makes a decent 3,5 and 7 element antenna but for a good chunk of change. http://www.arrowantennas.com/arrowii/440-7ii.html I have to think there are other antennas like this being sold. Possibly for less $$$ Anyone have any suggestions? |

I have the Arrow 7-element antenna. It works quite well. |

I don't get it -- so you know it works well but aren't willing to spend the cash for a quality product... but you are willing to spend $40 on a crappy, imitation product made in Burma...? If you're that cheap, then why not just build one from one of those metal tape measures. Should cost you about $10 in parts. Plans are all over the internet. |

The point of my thread is to reach out to members of this forum for other possible options OTHER than the Aarow brand antenna. nickcarr wrote: but you are willing to spend $40 on a crappy, imitation product made in Burma...? No, I'm not willing to pay for a crappy product. Again, I'm asking for suggestions from the members for a antenna that possibly as good but for less $$. nickcarr wrote: If you're that cheap, then why not just build one from one of those metal tape measures. This gives me a few more options to look at. I'm fine with buying used. Attaching some type of handle to the end of a Yagi that is intended to be mounted to a pole could work I guess. |

Yeah the biggest problem is that most yagi's are $$$ so that's why I was giving you grief earlier. ;) For its performance, the Arrow is very reasonably priced. :) |
